Excellent analogy and so true. Control what you can. The angler can't force the fish to bite; we can't control the markets. Still, we can all put ourselves into position - moreso than the angler that blindly casts or the investor that blindly invests in stocks or mutual funds.

Thanks for that TW!

I had a conversation with a fellow (value) investor about bass fishing and investing, a little different from yours but here it goes...

Bass fishing is 80% finding where the fish is and value investing is 80% finding which type of company have competitive advantage hence profitable. For professional bass angler, 80% lies on do your homework b 4 hand (study the lake, river, time of the year, weather...) and the rest is patient and luck, for value investor, 80% of your time & energy is to study the company and the rest is waiting Mr. Market to give you a good pitch.

my 2 cents.

Justin: Thanks! I knew there had to be a politically correct way to say fisherman/fisherwoman.

Pete: Thanks as well! At times I feel like I post because I have to - not because I have something good. In those cases, I'll skip the day or post something short. I just want to make sure that the blogging remains fun so I can keep the style of F Wall Street the same. I've seen a ton of bloggers who have turned pessimistic/angry or gave up because they forgot why they started in the first place.
