Leaving For Omaha; Berkshire Updates

May 1, 2009  |  Joe Ponzio

I’m heading out to Omaha for the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting. Though I’m still trying to figure out Twitter, I’ll do my best to post updates on my Twitter page here.

If you’re going to be in Omaha, drop me a line via e-mail and we’ll meet up.

How far in advance do you have to book hotels/airfare, etc.? I’m thinking about attending a future shareholder meeting and have heard that you need to start planning during the summer.

night: The Twitter updates said it all. It was a good time, but not much to report outside of the in-meeting stuff. Other than, of course, that you may have seen me on tv. As Warren was trying to battle his way into the book area, I was standing right there. Next thing you know, his security team is pushing me out of the way so he could get through. I don’t know why they couldn’t step ten inches out of my way. Apparently, Warren didn’t see me standing there :)

Jason: Book it as far in advance as possible, usually at least six months. And look to the neighboring towns. Omaha is a small town, so even being in the outskirts puts you within a ten or fifteen minute cab ride.
